Today seems to be a special day for London, not only after the unexpected decision to leave the EU ?!

Today London is celebrating London pride, thousands join the parade.

Tens of thousands of people have joined the Pride parade through central London. The annual celebratory march, now in its 43rd year, stopped for a minute to remember the victims shot dead in a gay nightclub in Orlando. The parade got under way in the West End with an increased visible police presence. For the first time, the Red Arrows will fly past the march and a rainbow flag is flying at Parliament.

The theme of this year’s march is No Filter

We would also like to add some theory into this event from an observer point of view.

Observation: a research method you can believe

Watching people is not only  interesting, it tells you a huge amount about them. It is worth reflecting that observation has played in the formative years of the market research industry. For years anthropologist has researched tribes by using observation. They seek to become a part of the tribe until their presence is taken for granted and the actions and behaviors of the people they are observing are as normal as can be. Market researchers have drawn on this experience and ethnography is now in common use as a market research tool.
